雨中上海

11/21-11/26 Shanghai again...

Tightly packed recruiting trip and taking care of some stuff for my parents. Raining and windy all week, pretty much a trip out of need rather than a trip enjoyed. Yet thankfully, there are still fun moments talking to university students and working with the fellow interviewers from HK, TK, SH and Sydney offices. Best is street shopping in a back valley near Four Seasons with the Morgan crew. The discoveries are surprisingly entertaining, and our reactions are some one-of-a-kind preciousness...

Left TK in a hurry and didn't pack enough. Picked up some easy matching outfit in a small shop on the way back to hotel from dinner. Funny and friendly owner imports stuff from Japan and accepted my JPY as payment =) even added lovely lace tank tops as gift! Lucky me. Oh and dear Winnie, I did get new shoes as per your advice =P

Thank you

Haven't been updating my blog for a while and friends started emailing and calling to know how I'm doing. A casual "hi whats up", or jokingly "no slacking off!" comment, and even surprise card and gifts from HK... all this means a lot to me, dear everyone... Thank you, thank you...

It's been a tough month for various reasons and I'm feeling quite exhausted while trying to recover. Knowing that you all are there living and laughing as the way we used to... somehow it warms up this chilly autumn in a foreign land... thank you my friends.

...and thank you, my Rock higher than I...

"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
       my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
       he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. "
-Psalm 62 : 5-6

Out of print sadness

Seems like this could be THE knitting bible that might solve all the mysteries and wonders, sigh...

Queenstown, NZ

Queenstown, always bright and lively, with breathtaking lake front. Planned 2 days of snowboarding at Coronet Peak didn't go as planned, leaving more time to take it slow and wander around. Blessing in disguise?
Must try: seafood at Fishbone and brunch at Voodoo Cafe.

New Zealand 2006

8/26 - 9/9
Been back from New Zealand for a month already -- much belated post.
Lovely NZ, more than words can describe... God must have smiled while creating this blessed land!
A truly memorable two weeks it was, with wonders, pleasant surprises and precious moments dear to my heart...
...thank you, MLM, for everything, thank you...

厚焼玉子

With yummy anago...mmm... not bad for a first try!

Mi Casa

August 7
Finally, after more than two months of transitioning, my new place in Tokyo! N-FLAT Takanawa, with its own petite garden.
God has blessed me abundantly indeed.

九州じゃんがら 原宿店

My former manager visiting Tokyo for the week and together we checked out a pretty awesome ramen place in Harajuku. So far all New York visitors have complained about the weak AC in Japan, however they don't seem to have any problem eating a hot bowl of ramen in the heat

江戸川花火

八月五日 夏夜
Summer fireworks, my first in Japan...

The Princess Bride

Haven't read a novel for the longest time and picked up this one before I left the US. My host family's 17 year old son was reading it and somehow the cover caught my eyes. A few pages into it and I'm glued to the satirical writing. And how to describe it... it's one of those books that you feel a little sad closing the last page on, if you've felt that way about a book as a child? Anyways, I'm hoping to check out the movie some time soon!

It's such a well-read book that there's not much to say about it that hasn't been said already. Really appreciate the dark and real side of the otherwise typical hero and princess love story. Llife is not fair, for sure, thus all the more precious our priviledge to love and hope and endure.

Also, silly me, totall fell for the Morgenstern stuff until I checked out Amazon comments. All through the book I was annoyed by the long dragging comments by the "abridger" hoping that he'd give us a break and that I can somehow find the original to dig in the deleted scenes hehe.... Good trap.

Btw, where are quite some "Which Princess Bride character are you" type of quizzes around and most of them include a question like "what's your asset/strength" with options like beauty, skills, intelligence, etc. Good question to ask yourself when no one's around and too bad they don't have a non-of-above option for me
